Few days ago i thought of experimenting with FreeRADIUS a very flexible RADIUS server… Over the next few days/weeks, I will be making my own billing system for ISP’s using FreeRADIUS with MySQL as a backend and a very *neat* PHP Front end.
I will be posting the basic layout for the System’s MySQL Database in a few days.
Firefox 2.0 is now available for download from Mozilla’s Servers. Get it now ftp://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0/
Hi There,
Those who know me, Know that i run Bongoza, The currently close to non-existant search engine. Well, That will change in a few months once i get my server up and Running.
Anyway… For the crawler you need:
- Snoopy Agent (Fetches the Webpage, Extracts the Text, Strips the Links, etc)
- Web Server with PHP
- Some Time (And maybe more to tweak Snoopy)
Crawling Process:
- Fetch Page main page
- Strip Links found on Page, Put in Array for links to be fetched
- Parse page and extract data (Text, Meta Tags, Size, etc.)
- Index Page
- Start fetching pages from Array of links to be fetched. Repeat as Above.
Well, Thats pretty much the idea. Will be posting the code after i get some time to completely finish the code with a lot more features like robots.txt support and all the other features i can think of.
Few days a go i found out Google searches Source codes of software and also Blogs, Try out this Google Labs Project:

Google is buying video-sharing website YouTube for $1.65bn (£883m) in shares after a weekend of speculation that a deal was in the offing.
The two companies will continue to operate independently, Google said as it announced the news on Monday.
YouTube, launched in February 2005, has grown quickly into one of the most popular websites on the internet.
It has 100 million videos viewed every day and an estimated 72 million individual visitors each month.
I know this is old news.. Even then… Good for Kenya and also good for Tanzania.. We can now also benefit from both projects, EASSY and the Kenya Fiber Optic link, Which should help Tanzania to meet its bandwidth needs in the future..
Hi!,
Today ill be writing about what Tanzanian ISP’s should do to help the internet users of Tanzania.
First of all, The TIX (Tanzania Internet Exchange). The TIX is a first for Tanzania, The exchange point which is located on the Top floor of Posta house in Dar es Salaam, Has around 12 Peers!! which is alot!. If you try to ping a local ISP such as Cats-Net or Benson Online, It will usually return an average ping of 15ms, Compare that to pinging download.com with an average ping time of 700ms. The bandwidth that you can get from the TIX (While downloading stuff from another local isp) is around 2mbps+ (if you dont have a bandwidth limit), While downloading from an international site would give you speeds of around 20KB/s. As you can see… If we have files on the servers of local ISP’s, File downloads would be as fast as in the UK!!.
The first ISP to host software files like this was Raha.com, It was providing a mirror for Tucows. I remember downloading a few software from it at around 60KB/s which was quite fast at that time. A few years ago it was taken down.
The best solution for this is that the ISP’s in Tanzania should have somthing like a “Local Internet”, All Tanzanian sites should be hosted locally, Servers are not that expensive!!. If this happens, Everything else will follow… Local Mirrors, File Sharing Networks and other cool geek stuff.
I just found a few sites with FREE! high-res stock images, They are free to use and only some require that you credit the authors for the pictures..
